Rose in the valley of the Carpinelle torrent around a castle which origins go back to the eigth century. Its first nucleus was certainly founded by the ancient Umbrian population of this area. The finding of an Etruscan flute, extracted of a human shinbone and preserved in the archaeological museum of Perugia, testify these very ancient origins; findings which had been found around, testify the presence of numerous roman villas. In the Middleages it was subjected to Città di Castello, which fortified it with walls (XIIIth century) and a fortress. In 1817 it was constituted in a commune. |
