La
storia della cittą
From ancient origins, it was certainly an etruscan village, rose on the right bank of the Tiber to promote commercial exchange with the Umbrians. Fortified in the XIth century, the castle was destroyed by Pope Innocenzo in 1198. Immediately rebuild, the castle ties its own history to the one of Mount Santa Maria Tiberina, from which it took the name, staying like this independent until 1859, when it entered to be part of the Italian Kingdom. |
