Rose as a fortified place in castle form on a hillock fortified with quarter deck in medieval times. Between 1353 and 1367, at the times of Albornoz of the Papal States it was steadfastly fortified. In 1560, after the fortress passed into several seigniorys hands, nearly always for being sold, on the 1th september the communal Statute was approved. During the Roman Republic of 1848 it was united to Orvieto's canton, Viterbo's delegation. With Napoleon it was in the department of the Trasimeno. Mid-September 1861 it was occupied by the hunters of the Tiber, of Garibaldi's captain Masi and then annexed to the Italian Kingdom. |
