La storia della cittą

Founded in 600 a.C. by the inhabitants of Luchiano which escaped the masacre of the Goths, only in 859 they fenced the city with walls to defend themselves from the Saracene invasions. The hamlet originates from the feud of Count Forolfo di Guido. Annexed to the Church, attained (XIIth century) by Bovaccini from Tod i . In the successive centuries, for its strategic importance assumed by the castle for the control of the Tiber val ley, it was contended between Todi, Amelia and Orvieto. This last, held it in possession for a long time. It was then under jurisdiction of Alviano's seigniory of Ridolfi and therefore of the Farnese, which were decorated with the title of perpetual governors of the city. It was part of the Roman Republic and after the Re-establishment (1814) it goes back to the dominions of the Church.
