From the ancient Guardege or Podium Guardege only a few rests are left from its first installation which seems had been in Marruto. At times the ancient castle had a look out and guard function. It had its own seigniory (the de Gardejea), which extended their dominion to a wide surrounding territory. Belongs then to the Monteparte, the Monaldeschi, the seignory of Alviano and at last to the Counts of Marsciano before it enters to be part of the Papal States. Annexed to the Italian Kingdom in 1860. |
