Even though etruscan-umbrian origins, first historical knowlege go back to 1191 and its original name was Castle di Jove. The hamlet is medieval origins and the castle, build on a pre-esistant fortress belonging to the Anguillara, the Farnese and from the XVIth century on to Canonici Mattei. In the beginning of the 900's the castle was sold to Ricciardi, from here it passed into general Robilant's hands, at last, in 1936, to the Counts of Acquarone. |
