Rose on the confluence of the Faena and Tiber stream with the name "Tudernum", following historical events alike all towns in that area. In 1290, it assumed the name Villa or Fracta Episcopi, meaning, Fratta of the bishop, to assume Fratta Todina in 1860. First human traces go back to neolithic-age, in roman epoch it was leader of the commune of Todi, belonging to the Vlth Augustan region. From 1334 to 1413 it belongs to Florence, then passes to the seigniory of Braccio Fortebraccio, who restored, had walls and towers strengthened and the street straighten out. In 1416, Carlo Malatesta was held prisoner. Successively it was a free commune, to return under Todi's dominion in 1452. |
