First knowledge we have around the middle of the XIIIth century, when it was acquired by the commune of Gubbio which cared and perfected the work of fortification. From probable roman origins "Castrum Costacciarii", agricultural centre became in the Xth century feud of Lupo, count of Nocera. Conquered by Perugia in the first half of the XIIIth century, it was fenced with walls and fortified with a fortress. Belonging, for a short period, to Gubbio and Montefeltro, passes definitively to the State of Church in the XVth century. |
