Uncertain and discordant origins, but probable Roman-Etruscan, remains unknown until 1242, when the bishop from Perugia gave the Monte Malbe woods to the Corcianese population. According to popular tradition, Corciano means "Cuore di Giano" (heart of giano), commune subjected to Perugia, following its destiny. Defeated the commune of Todi together with the Perugian allies in 1310. With the statutory reform of 1342, Corciano is mentioned in the official Perugian country list. In seigniory epoch, Corciano was a valued centre for its structure and position. Withstands siege of Braccio Fortebraccio in 1428 and for the courage demonstrated, it was requited by Perugia with the exemtion from exciseduty for five years. Successively it suffers another assault by Fortebraccio, but by now exhausted, it surrendered. With the death of this last, Corciano returned to the Church.
