La
storia della cittą
First knowledge of its existence only in the XIIIth century for its important strategic position on the outlet of the Vigi valley. The village is from ancient origins and it seems that its name derives from the presence of oak woods which are abundant in this area. In the XIIIth century it was roughly contended between Spoleto and Norcia. It was destroyed by the troops of Norcia in the XVth century. In 1550 it returns to the church, in 1569 associated to Norcia and in 1800 it enters again with the French in jurisdiction of Spoleto. Its inhabitants had been, in the Middle Ages, famous as pedlars and dealer of spices and recipes. The area is famous for Truffle richness. |
