First historical knowledge go back to the 1000's. Avigliano's treasure is represented by which is definite the "Fossil Forest" of Dunarobba, for which studies are conducted to consent its conservation . In the 1600's it was discovered by scientist who founded the accademy of the Lincei, they were the first being interested in these exceptional findings which they called metallofite. In the forest, today one can see about fifty trunks which underwent a very particular process of fossilization which consented to keep their ligneous nature unalterated. |
