storia della cittą
From Umbrian-Etruscan origins, its name derives from the numerous Lime trees which grow in this area "Ad Tilium". Rose around the XIth and XIIth century (its walls go back to the 1 300's). In medieval times Attigliano was under jurisdiction of the Borghese and the Orsini which kept their own vassals here (its history is tied to Aurelia and Bomarzo, feud of the Orsini, which fighted a long time for it). Suffers various occupations by the seigniory from Alviano (Liviani) and passes definitively to the Papal States in the XVth century. Its castle from the sixteenth century had been demolished in 1964. |
