The roman family Arrone took possession of it in 876 on their flight from Rome, building a castle of wood. The wood was replaced with stonewall in the 1000's. Follows Terni's events and in the XVth century it definitively enters to be part of the Papal States. To defend its own liberty, it supports a hard engagement with the french troops in 799. The upper place of the village (called "La Terra" "The Land") has kept nearly intact the architectonic structure of the medieval hamlet. |
