Rose in the middleages as a castle. Stroncone belongs first to the monks of Farfa, then to the Church. Destroyed during the fiercely fights against Narni, rebuild by Innocenzo IIIrd in 1215, it has been a strong castle for a long time. In 1463 Pope Pio IInd had been a guest. In 1527 it was plundered by the Lanzichenecchi of the high constable of Borbone to take by assault Rome. It withstands french assault for 16 days in 1799. From 1927 to 1947 it was aggregated to the commune of Terni. |
