From ancient origins, first called Schiaginum then Schezzino and in the beginning of the XVIIIth century, Scheggino, agricultural centre, rose on a slant around a triangular castle with quarter deck on the vertex, from which the primitive structure is still visible. The locality was fenced with wall in the XIIth century, suffers a memorable siege by Picozzo Brancaleoni in 1522, unable to expunge the castle. In the neighbourhood, on the left side of the Nera, in an enchanting place, spring between the trees the "Valcasana fountains". |
