From ancient origins, it was roman station with the name Scgisa, also called "mulatio ad Hesis" or "ad Ensem", and was testimony of GreekGothic wars, culminant the Tagina battle in 552. The population was merely agricultural and addicted to adoration of goddess Cupra, they lived close by the square tower called "Le Palombelle" . At the end of Xth century, for investiture of Ottone IIIrd, becomes feud of the Count of Nocera Lupo, called Vico of Monaldo. It was one of Gubbio's castles which was confirmed by Federico Barbarossa in 1163. Belongs to Perugia (XIIIth century), to the Montefeltro (XVth century), to the Church (XVth century) and was often plundered by troops in transit. The "Eugubine Tables" were found near Scheggia in 1444. The commune of Scheggia and Pascelupo was constituted in 1878. It's tradition that a famous temple to Giove Appenninico was found, but from which no traces can be found any more today.
