The Chapel of Roses It was built over the
site of St. Francis' pallet. The chapel was recently restored, bringing out all the colours. |

| Before you get to the rose garden, there is a small statue of Francis where doves, so dear to the saint, have made their nests. Nearby there is also a monument portraying the saint talking to a lamb. The rose garden is along the path leading to the Chapel of Roses. The roses have no thorns and in fact, the rose garden is directly linked with the life of the saint. In order to flee temptation, he threw himself naked onto a large rose bush and the blood that flowed from his martyred body made the roses grow without any thorns. |

The old convent This holds the partially furnished cells of the first friars (the cell of St. Bernardino is also here). The small room known as common fire is extremely interesting. Blackened by the lamps and by time, it was once a place of prayer. There is also a library. It is annexed to the convent and is one of the main ones in the region. Together with the archives, it contains ancient Franciscan documents, volumes and manuscripts. |
